Do you prefer cycling to walking and do you want to see much more in a shorter time in a very pleasant and an extraordinary way? Prague by bike is the best tour for those tourists who are keen on cycling as well a me:)

Pros:

  • Cycling is much better way of discovering Prague than walking – it is more original, comfortable, easier and faster – the features which makes your tour through Prague unforgottable.
  • At 10:15 I was picked up at the meeting point Na Prikope, which is in the very centre, just about 2 minutes from Wenceslaw Square, to take a bike, meet our guide and other members of the group (two Dutch guys – cycling is very popular in Netherlands, so they probably wanted to feel familiar even in Prague :))
  • I have chosen a blue bike which became my vehicle for the next two hours – it had a comfortable seat and was extremely easy to use, the ride was not demanding at all!
  • The first stop of our tour was the Old Town Square – the centre of the Old Town. After our guide had told us some interesting stories about the surrounding buildings and monuments we could set out to Jewish Town which was only about 5 minutes far.
  • Here we heard other fascinating facts and history details from the Prague Jewish history. We could make photos of Old New Synagogue and Old Jewish Cemetery – only from outside of course, any entrances are not included in the price. However, the brief way of the tour is good, because you can see a lot and you can eventually come back to see more.
  • Afterwards we went to the river, to the Čech Bridge to see the breathtaking panorama of Prague with its monuments such as Prague castle, Charles Bridge and National Theatre.
  • We crossed the river to reach Lesser Town and to enjoy the city from the other side.
  • We saw the Franz Kafka Museum and very special pieces of art from the Czech artist David Černý in front of the museum, as well as further at Kampa Island.
  • The last spots of our ride were National Theatre, Wenceslaw Square and Municipal House. Our guide always adviced us of important sights, interesting places to go and scenes of vital historical events.

Cons – notices:

  • Well, Prague is unfortunately not a typical cycling – city, I mean there are not enough cycling routes. However, if you follow a smart guide, as we did, you can find your way:)
  • Our guide was not Czech, so sometimes I had to smile when I heard about our national history and sights from the foreigner. On the other side, it was quite refreshing and the quide who is not a resident might help the tourists much more then a man who has been living here and cannot appreciate the beauty of the city because he is used to it.

my blue comfortable city bike our group at the very start of the tour – fresh and admiring the Old Town Square you just have to enjoy cycling on such a beautiful saddle:) view of the Prague Castle from the river embankment the famous Metronome in the park of Letna – a nice spot to sit and hang around with your friends unique Rudolfinum concert hall at Palach Square extraordinary view on the Charles Bridge from the Lesser Town the statue from the artist David Černý in front of the Kafka Museum which embodies the East and the West (quite controversial!) Kampa - the wall full of locks which were given here by lovers who want to lock their love and to throw the key away one exact lock – let us wish never ending love to K+V :)! the mill and a dangerous water man – keep away from him otherwise he will catch your soul and hide it under the water into a cup! Lennon´s wall waiting for everybody who would like to make it even more original a breath-taking view on the Old Town from Kampa Island another piece of work from David Černý the Gothic Powder Gate guarding the entrance into the Old Town the Municipial House – Art Nouveau jewel
